PERFORMANCE WORK
I Agree to Meet Your Eyes and Hold Steady, 2008
performance
collaboration with M.P.A.
TRT: 45:00

Liz Rosenfeld and M.P.A. revisit a past intimacy. M.P.A. offered "I agree to meet your eyes and hold steady." Rosenfeld accepted. In a 45 min exercise, these two bodies will physically and energetically explore a current desire and the memory of a desire. Rules and limitations have been left undeclared. Trust is decidedly inherent.
"I agree to meet your eyes and hold steady" is a re- occurring piece to be performed once a year at a meeting of artists Liz Rosenfeld and M.P.A.

-i no-, 2007 - 2008
live performance, video, and sound

- i no- is a live durational performance piece, which deals with the experience of loss, rituals of mourning, and the habits of trauma, which are in a constant state of psychic motion. This performance encompasses the process of realization through meditative repetitive action, speech and song. The audience enters a dark space, only lit by the light if a video projection. An abstract image of the artist’s eye is projected above the performance space, representative of the unpredictable sun and moon cycles. The refraction and retraction of the pupil, sets a tone to the performance space, signaling both the simultaneous stagnation and passing of time. A plethora of gloves forms a large circle configuration around the artist, who enters and begins the performance kneeling in the center. The gloves cast a circle becoming the mourning space. The performer enters and begins to quietly repeat the phrase “ I Know.” As the performance continues the artist continues to place each gloves on top of each other, growing more frustrated. The performer continues to recite the phrase “ I know,” which begins to take on it’s own metamorphism, almost indistinguishable as words, and rather as guttural emotive sounds. Ending in an emotional jumble of words, gloves, a trans- performnace of an old Cole Porter song and erupted space, - i no- is an unpredictable performance, challenging the audience to consider their own constant conceptions of ritual space and state of loss.

GayHomosexual, 2005
Live Performance and Multi Media Presentation
TRT: 20 min

"Welcome to Gay Homosexual. This afternoon's presentation will address the ever-increasing infiltration of GayHomosexual into our American cultural landscape. The Department of Homo Security has developed some user-friendly tools to assist ordinary Americans in identifying the different levels of GayHomosexual in their surrounding environments. Today you’ll become familiarized with some of these materials, and their applications. When confronted, as we all are in these times, with the specter of GayHomosexual, we must remain alert and at the ready."
GayHomosexual is a live performative lecture, which questions the state of radical queer action in relation to the current commodification of gay identity in American pop culture.
